Most ball thread geometries are gothic arch or circular arc. On a gothic-arch ball groove, induction hardening of the screw leaves the root and core ductile and hardens the ball contact areas. This permits more cases of re-straightening and reuse. The hardened gothic-arch also permits more regrinds than the circular arc.
